A study of Influence Factors on the Suicidal Tendency of Elderly Living alone

Abstract
The purpose of this study is to establish the suicide prevention policy of elderly living alone. We constructed and analyzed stepwise multi-regression model, which include socio-demographic factors, physical & emotional factors and social relations factors. The data was collected from interviews with 303 elderly living alone in Eunpyeong-gu.
Major finding of this study is that important influencing factors on the suicidal tendency are depression(¥â=.335, p<.001), sex(¥â=-.138, p<.05), social support(¥â =-.117, p<.05) and family-related satisfaction(¥â=-.114, p<.05).
In conclusion, it"s important to understand, manage and prevent factors which effects on suicide. Also, based on this result, policy implications should be discussed about the aged suicide prevention and built health-welfare cooperation model among community-based institutions.
